Life's been good...

Been a long time since I last blogged...
Gigs aren't alot recently, but glad to be doing a few wedding gigs in the coming months, and of cos one of the big gig of the year, tomorrow evening's School Official Opening. I will be performing 3 songs... Been coughing for past 4 weeks or so! Of cos, partly my own fault of not cutting down on cold drinks as pointed out by someone... =P

Life has been good to me all this while I guessed...or should I say, God has been good to me!
That's why I had more time to be troubled over some stuff, while many pple are struggling with their jobs etc...

Having said that, time to really sit down and write some serious music for the band...
We do have plans for end of this years... gigs don't come all the time... We need to make things happen, and that is to write more music that belong to ourselves so that we can share with others!

Birthday is round the corner again... celebrations aside, it's time to think about what lies ahead... =)

1st time performing with a Big Band

Thx to a colleague Anne, I had my very 1st experience of performing with a Big Band...
The band was made up of Swedishs and Russians...It was my honour to perform with them.

Anne was a very old friend of the Swedish Conductor of the band, Mr Jangtun... ( who looked very much like our KFC Colonel...tsk tsk)

Sang the song 《童话》for somebody in mind...hope she likes it. -_-"

Wedding gig @ Marriott for Alywin & Charmaine

I was invited to perform by the bride Charmaine thru her mom who's a "colleague" of mine... It's always a great honour and pleasure to perform at wedding banquets...

It was a great collaboration with Peter Huang, a veteran performer in the Chinese music scene... It was my honour to perform with him...especially when he started doing his amazing beatbox...

He started out performing at Music Dreamer (爱琴海) at the same time when I started out performing at The Ark (木船).
We didn't really practice the songs together before last nite's gig, but all went well...

The many years of training we had at the Chinese music cafes, provided us the ability to adapt and perform with any musician at any time...

And thanx to Peter for providing the monitor speaker and his own mixer board on stage for the gig( something most hotel ballrooms would not be able to provide ) , thus we were able to hear ourselves well on stage...

Jay Chou The Era 2010 World Tour

I watched the 1st show on last friday...
I still prefer the last show in 2007 actually...lol
But this one is still fantastic nonetheless... cos I watched with someone special...


I realised the acoustic guitar finger plucking solo in the his new song《免费教学录影带》was really played by himself, or at least, he really know how to do it... Amazing...











As usual, Jay will make sure his artistes get some limelight...The Drifters here...

A clever move by Jay!! This is the 1st time I see such a big lyrics board at the back... how to forget lyrics with it???

Say bye bye to the conventional Grand Piano... Now we have weird looking "grand pianos" in all shape and sizes... Just slot in a good 88keys digital piano and there u go....











Oh yes...did I mention Jay has fantasy about flight attendants? Jay performing《嘻哈空姐》with the sexy "flight attendants"...

And YES... We finally get to gig after a long break, as our drummer Liang just celebrated his 1st Fathers' Day today... His daughter Roxette Tan was finally born on 1st June 2010!

It was a nite of fun and lame jokes from yours truly... 10 rock songs in a row isn't something easy, hoped I pulled it off!
I was on 3 different instruments that nite as well...
Been a long time since I performed on the guitar as well as my beloved (digital) piano...

We performed a new song written by me for the band that nite as well...It's also the 1st time we performed this particular song inspired by a special someone...some glitches here and there...I forgot to bring the lyrics, got to depend on my phone! But the screen is too small, thus sang a few words wrongly. ( Of cos, I wrote the lyrics, I could memorise most of the lyrics...)
Hope the next time it will be much better!

It's one of the songs that I always perform when I 1st joined The Ark Cafe 10 years ago as a vocalist... Time flies... but I'm still young... =P
